Technically it's not completely wasted. You have somebody operating the company and equipment to produce the sign. The sign has parts that come from somewhere else too. So the supplier also gets paid for his parts.

It is MOSTLY wasteful since it's spent on politicing rather than on simple necessary information distribution.

Believe you me, this ain't nothin compared to other Colorado roadwork projects. Ya know, I-25 always is "under construction," the real problem roads with potholes and rockslides are ignored, not to mention the some $25K project to COME UP WITH A NAME for one of these non-projects. Yay for wise legislative budgeting.
